About Our Company

Learn to Read

Learning to Read is like Rocket Science, it’s complicated and there are many failure points during the process.

Looking at the chart on 4th grade reading skills, you can see that since 1992, the acquisition of reading skills has been in a rut. During the last twenty seven (27) years, approximately ⅓ of all fourth grade students read at a level defined as Below Basic Proficiency.

Our Mission

Learn to Read is a nonprofit that provides the tools and strategies necessary to learn to read with proven, individualized reading lessons and the support necessary to read at proficiency by the fourth grade.

What We Do?

We address the most significant and threatening problem in the education of our children.
We provide a reading system with 24/7 access to recorded reading lessons, that teach and empower students in grades K-3 to learn to read proficiently.

Skill Assessment and Placement

We conduct a assessment of the student’s current reading skills and determine the appropriate starting point. This determination is essential to designing an effective individual learning plan.

Individualized Reading Lesson Plans

Custom Reading Lesson Plans with a workbook and engaging digital reading lessons allow the student to find their pace, natural rhythm and to taste the success of being on the path to reading proficiency.

Child and Family Support

Program support for the student and the parents. Children learn with the support and mentorship from reading coaches and teachers. Each student is assigned a supervising teacher, a reading coach and a reading pal.

Our Testimonials

Insights from Family Members, Partners, and Teachers

The video lessons are very useful as preparation for the live sessions. During the live sessions, the reading coach would review his work and give him lots of praise, and if he was struggling with something, she could clarify that for him.

Vince Piro,
English Professor & Grandparent

We are focused on destroying the inequities in education and health for low income and students who are struggling academically. This partnership is really great because reading is foundational, when they learn to read, it's that piece of the pie that is missing in educational inequities

Gloria J. Morris - Founder,
Harvest Park Education Center

When a student is in a classroom setting, the teacher has 20+ students to focus on. If a student gets a little behind, a teacher can't pause the entire lesson and focus any individual student. At Learn to Read, we can do that. I can pause the lesson and can make sure that student really grasp the concept. So each student received a very in depth lesson in reading and they really understand the material.
